As part of the 26th MEU/SOC he landed in Afghanistan on December 4th 2001. His Det Platoon (2d LAR Bn A co 1 plt) was a crucial asset demonstrating the long range reconnaissance abilities in mountainous terrain of the LAV-25. After assisting in securing Kandahar International Airport for U.S. Military command post, his platoon worked as a Quick Reaction Force for the operation post. His platoon also conducted long range reconnaissance missions to investigate Taliban and Al Qaeda training camps along with the Australian S.A.S. at their request. After returning to Camp Lejeune in April of 2002, he would once again deploy on February 5, 2003 to Kuwait as part of the advanced party for what would become Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his time in country, all three LAR battalions would again prove their need and usefulness in desert warfare. The list of unit and personal achievements are too vast to list.
